HSE Student Wins IT-Planet Сompetition

Eldar Beibutov, a master’s student on the Information Security Management Programme of HSE’s Faculty of Business Informatics, received first place at the 7 th  international IT-Planet 2013/2014 student competition.

HSE roundtable at the Istanbul UN Internet Governance Forum 2014

This year at the annual UN Internet Governance Forum, IGF in Istanbul, besides the HSE professors and usual dignitaries, Alexandra Permyakova, a Master’s student on the Electronic Business programme at theFaculty of Business Informatics got the chance to go along and take part in the Forum. The HSE delegation organised a roundtable discussion on Empowering displaced people and migrants through online education services.

HSE Student at IBM Best Student Recognition Event

In July, IBM brought 70 of the best students from across Europe to Prague for the annual IBM Best Student Recognition Event. Representing the Higher School of Economics at the forum was Alexei Khokhlov, a graduate of the Faculty of Business Informatics and a Master’s student in the E-business programme.

New English-language Master's Programme in Big Data Systems

This year, the HSE Faculty of Business Informatics is launching an English-language master's programme in Big Data Systems. The training will be practice-oriented thanks to the Faculty's extensive partnerships with leading Russian and international companies; the research performed by students as part of their training will deal mostly with practical, hands-on issues.

There is no development without the internet

Peter Major, one of the world's leading experts in the field of ‘Governing the Internet’ comes to Moscow on September, 24 to spend a few days sharing his experience and views with HSE teachers and students. He will deliver a lecture ‘Internet as a Key Element of Development’, a seminar ‘Internet Governance’ with a consultation session and a seminar ‘International Structures of Internet Governance: forum on internet governance, forum on IT’ with a master class ‘Internet Governance Mechanisms’.

HSE Students to Participate in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2013 World Final

Students of the HSE School of Software Engineering won the Russian final of the Microsoft Imagine Cup contest for software projects on April 6, 2013, in Moscow. Now they will represent Russia in the Microsoft Imagine Cup World Final in July 2013 in Saint Petersburg.

XIV April Conference: Preliminary Programme

From April 2 – 5 the HSE, with the support of the World Bank and IMF will be holding the XIV April International Conference on Economic and Social Development. Andrey Yakovlev, deputy head of the committee, told us about the preliminary programme of the forum.

‘Innovation Isn’t Just an Empty Word or a Fashion Fad’

Mikhail Komarov, lecturer at the Faculty of Business Informatics Department of Innovation and Business in Information Technologies, is one of the ‘100 young innovators’ at the ‘Open Innovations’ forum. Open Innovations is an open space for people who develop and implement innovative solutions all over the world. The event is focused on forecasting technology trends and defining the role of information technology in global processes.

Innovations: a New Elective Course

In April a new all-university elective course on Science, Technology and Innovation: Analysis, Strategies and Policy will be launched at the HSE. It will be delivered in English by leading HSE international professors as well as some visiting experts. Dirk Meissner, Deputy Head of the HSE Research Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies, and one of the authors of the course, told us more about the course, its structure and specifics.

iConnect

In January 2012, 13 students of the Higher School of Economics visited Singapore as part of the ‘iConnect: Connecting global Youths. Inspiring future Entrepreneurs’ exchange programme organized by the students from the National University of Singapore.
