Description

While industries and corporations have acknowledged the importance of Web 2.0 and started integrating Web 2.0 in their business processes, they have made only limited contributions to the burgeoning knowledge in Web 3.0. Web 3.0, also called the Intelligent Web, has different definitions, but it refers to the provision of a more productive, personalized and intuitive environment through the integration of Semantic Web and in general Artificial Intelligence technologies emphasizing information understanding. Web 3.0 means that our things, our belongings, will have the power to learn, intuit and decide.

Smarter Commerce is one of the definitions of Web 3.0, bringing new approaches to e-business. Smart Commerce, along with other Web 3.0 definitions, means that soon we might have fully globalized services that would allow business to transform according to a new step of globalization.

W3SC2014 is an international workshop on advances in theory, applications and different approaches to using Web 3.0 and Smart Commerce. This workshop is about business transformation according to Web 3.0 and its definitions, about new types of services and innovative business models stemming from the high impact of Web 3.0 and Smart Commerce as the next step in globalization. The workshop will also include discussions on relevant topics of Big Data and Big Data Analytics.

Goals

The increase in business research activities can be observed in a variety of the fields. Although there have been several Business and Services workshops focused on Web 3.0 and Smart Commerce, there has been very little interaction so far among researchers. The aim of the workshop is to encourage activity in this field and to bring together worldwide specialists with an interest in Web 3.0.

Unlike conventional conferences, this workshop will mainly explore theoretical and practical problems raised by participants. In particular, we intend to devote sufficient discussion to the importance of sustainability and the relationships between Web 3.0, computer science, and management science.

Workshop topics:

  • e-business and e-commerce
  • Intelligent Web Applications
  • Smart Commerce
  • Web 3.0 services
  • Web of Things
  • Internet of Things
  • Social computing
  • Big Data and Big Data Analytics

Timing and venue:

The workshop is arranged on 14th-17th of July in Geneva, Switzerland within the Conference on Business Informatics (CBI-2014) IEEE.

Format

Duration of the workshop: half day.

There will be 4-5 panel presentations on the main aspects of Web 3.0, Smart Commerce and the impact of Big Data on modern business processes and business transformation. At the same time, there will be a call for papers. All received papers will be structured according to the panel presentations. After each presentation, there will be a discussion on the mentioned topic with a short resolution at the end. An internationally known scholar in Web 3.0, Smart Commerce and Big Data may be invited to deliver a keynote address. The organizers would also like the opportunity to allow several (1-2) of the authors to participate in the workshop remotely via Skype.

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that are not being considered in another forum. Manuscripts should range in length from 4 to 8 pages and should be submitted in IEEE format.

Papers redirected from the main conference will be also considered by the workshop’s programme committee.

Submissions should be made through EasyChair system.

The proceedings will be published as a general CBI workshop proceeding with CBI.
